The Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) provides direct measurements that have been correlated with California Bearing Ratio (CBR) values (Kleyn, 1975).
Field calibration of the portable DCP helps establish a relationship between penetration resistance and standard penetration test results.
This tool is especially useful for evaluating footing foundations and conducting light field investigations where standard resistance ranges are already established.
