ESCR Environmental Stress Crack Tester - QualiESCR-100 is designed to assess the susceptibility of ethylene plastics to environmental stress cracking, as outlined in ASTM D883. Following the ASTM D1693-01 standard, this tester evaluates how ethylene plastics respond to stress when exposed to substances such as soaps, wetting agents, oils, or detergents. Under these conditions, mechanical failure can occur in the form of cracking.

During testing, bent plastic specimens with a controlled surface imperfection are subjected to a surface-active agent. The percentage of specimens that crack within a specified timeframe is recorded, providing insight into the material’s resistance to stress-induced cracking.
